Ant assault was a 6 week production with a group of 14 people. My main contributions to the project was system design on the climbing and gun mechanics, alongside level design for the mushroom area.
One of the main challenges throughout the production was trying to counter the motion sickness that would arise from the climbing mechanic. Solving this involved experimenting with a number of different smoothing methods and a climbing lock mechanic that would prevent the camera from turning for smaller angles. Another component that helped was running tests to identify what angles worked best to reduce motion sickness, and then limiting the levels to primarily use angles within that acceptable range.
